QSFP+ (QSFP Plus) I/O interconnect system – 40 Gb/s bandwidth (4x10) & 56Gb/s (4x14) bandwidth capability. FCI ‘s QSFP+ interconnect system offering increases 10G/s & 14Gb/s per channel port density and enables users to better utilize available linear board space
The QSFP + (Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable) interconnect system consists of a 38 position connector (10G capable), EMI cage and copper based cable assemblies that allows the user to increase linear PCB board port signal density well above that of the XFP, SFP or SFP+ I/O systems. This product offering meets the emerging industry bandwidth needs of 40 Gb/s & 56 Gb/s per port capability as defined by the IEEE 802.3ba specification as well as the Infiniband QDR & FDR and FibreChannel industry standards. System functionality is defined by and meets the SFF-8436 specifications and delivers greater than 4 times the port bandwidth capability of SFP+ systems. This system is particularly well suited for high transactional systems that are typically deployed in data center, networking and high performance computing applications.
FCI offers an SMT mounted edge card connector that is designed and packaged to be pick-n-place compatible. The robust EMI metal cage is PCB mounted & terminated via eye-of-the needle legs. The cage offering also includes a diecast heat sink and metal heat sink mounting clip to address applications where heat dissipation of the mating cable module is required. The through- the-chassis termination of the cages is achieved via a stamped EMI girdle that contacts the chassis as the cage is slipped through the chassis opening. The FCI cable assembly offering features highly engineering PCB mating transition boards that assure proper mechanical mating while delivering 10 Gb/s & 14Gb/s per channel bandwidth signal transmission. The copper based passive cable assemblies are offered in the maximum lengths allowed per the different performance specifications noted above. All cables include EEPROM memory map capability as defined by the applicable SFF standards. The cables are mated via a simple plug-in push to lock in place and a user friendly pull lanyard to unlock the cable module end.
