During
the transition phase from traditional products to those that are lead-free
and RoHS-compliant(*), customers need to be able to understand the current
position of products. To support this, FCI has established a system that
allows different levels of reporting, as follows:
1. RoHS compliance(*) reporting. This is a reporting template
that allows customers to quickly review the current RoHS-status of products.
The template covers both Directive 2002/95/EC and Directive 2003/11/EC.
It also provides target dates for availability, new LF part numbers and temperature ratings
for soldered products.
2. Materials composition reporting. A reporting template that specifies
the various materials used in a product, by component and the weight percentages
of each material. The report also declares if substances are added intentionally
or otherwise.
FCI has adopted the Materials Composition Declaration Guide and is using
Level A and Level B criteria for reporting materials. The Level A materials
are prohibited or restricted in their use by legislation or require reporting
as a result of regulatory effects. Level B substances are listed by industry
need for disclosure.
* Reporting is performed to the best of our available knowledge and with all
the information available to FCI at the time of reporting. In that respect and for substances like PBD and PBDE, FCI relies on its suppliers and their information.
