Six Sigma Program for delivering
world-class levels of quality
What is Six Sigma?
Six Sigma is a statistical term that measures how far a given process
deviates from perfection. The central idea behind Six Sigma is that
if you can measure how many defects you have in a process, you can
systematically figure out how to eliminate them and get as close to
"zero defects" as possible.
It is a highly disciplined process that helps companies focus on developing
and delivering near-perfect products and services. To achieve Six
Sigma quality, a process must produce no more than 3.4 defects per
million opportunities. This means nearly flawless performance in execution
of key processes.
Main Principles
Six Sigma is a structured and proven problem solving methodology, dedicated
to process improvement.
It is: > a systematic methodology for project management > for breakthrough improvements, > using a large and solid set of quality and statistical tools, > throughout all the organization
Six Sigma addresses repetitive processes for productivity and quality
improvements targeting at manufacturing, engineering or transactional
Six Sigma at FCI
At FCI, It is believed that successful implementation of the methodology
could reduce product defects down to Six Sigma target levels, leading
to unprecedented savings. Given FCI's ambitious plans to realize powerful
bottom-line results, savings prospects of this magnitude represent
a potential major contribution to its overall performance. FCI managers
agree that Six Sigma is more than just a quality system like TQM or
ISO, but a way of doing business.
